Among Five Sacred Mountains in China TaiShan is regarded as foremost.
Often known as DongYue (mountain in the east) it is the farthest Sacred Mountain located to the East, on the place of the rising Sun, birth of life an flourishing vital energy.
The mountain also referred as TaiYue(supreme mountain) is located north of the city of Tai’an, in Shandong Province, China, in one of the oldest cradles of the ancient Chinese civilization along the Yellow River.
The valour of natural landscape, especially visible from 1,545 meters high Jade Emperor Peak, human activity locations dating back to Paleolithic period , and Historic Relics of Chinese Culture,
are the base on which Tai Mountain enrolled UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

For over three thousand years all Emperors of China were travelling to Tai Shan to strengthen their power in the ritual known later as Fengshan.
Most of Emperors stayed at the bottom, where they held Worship of heaven and earth in Dai Miao – the temple of God of Mount Taishan.
A few of them were going to the top of the mountain, and so did Confucius , Mao Zedong, and millions of visitors every year climbing the mountain.
The popularity of the place growth some 1000 years ago , when people started to visit the temple of the goddess Daomu daughter of the God of Mount Tai and mother of Celestial Heaven.
The Kindness of goddes could bring the birth of a boy in the family, and provide good health for the child.

The traditional Emperors route starts from the Red Gate near the Dai Temple at the bottom goes through Mid-way Gate to South Gate to Heaven near Jade Emperor Peak at the top.
There are two routes from the bottom to the Mid-way Gate to Heaven, Red Gate route and Peach Blossom Origin route.
Both routes meet at the Mid-way Gate ( Zhong-tian Men ) which is also the end of bus road with large number of small shops and restaurands around the parking place.
From Mid-way Gate to South Gate leads the famous path of 18 turns steps. There is also the cable trolley which every several minutes runs to the top station close to South Gate.

The strait path from the Dai Temple to the South Gate goes over 6,660 steps on the distance of appr. 9 km.
If you choose Peach Blossom route, the way to the top is appr. 14 km long.
The tourist with good health conditions can manage to climb Tai Shan within up to 6 hours, so it is necessary to reserve one day for the visit.

If you don’t have enough time to walk, or don’t enjoy climbing , there are tourist buses that departure from Tai’an to the the Mid-way Gate, from where you can take the cable car to the top.

How to get to Tai shan:
The closest airport is YaoQiang international airport of Ji’Nan city.
From the airport there are buses to Taishan Hotel (the ticket price is RMB60.00 ).
